Facade Subcontractor

This person will lead the commercial delivery of several live façade projects.. We are looking for a hands on, commercially sharp individual who can bring structure and consistency without unnecessary bureaucracy. We are not after a corporate QS. We want someone grounded, technically capable, and confident managing subcontract procurement, CVRs, valuations, and client interfaces within a fast paced, growing business.

We are a specialist façade and cladding contractor delivering complex remediation and new-build envelope projects across the United Kingdom. Our work combines technical detail with a pragmatic, no-nonsense approach to project delivery. Following a period of rapid growth, we are strengthening our commercial team and now seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of multiple live projects. Ideal for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and wants to help shape systems, mentor others, and make a visible impact.

The Quantity Surveyor will lead the commercial management of several façade projects (typically £3-10m in value), ensuring financial control, contractual compliance, and commercial reporting throughout each stage. Providing oversight, guidance, and consistency across procurement, valuations, and final accounts. This is a hands-on role, suited to a QS who is commercially sharp, organised, and ready to help build a professional yet agile department.

Essential:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in quantity surveying, ideally within façades, cladding, or specialist envelope contracting.
Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deliver accurate commercial reporting.
Strong knowledge of JCT contracts (Design & Build and Sub-Contract).
Demonstrable experience in procurement, subcontract negotiation, and cost control.
Excellent numerical, contractual, and communication skills.
Competence with Excel and digital management systems (Xero, ApprovalMax, SharePoint, etc.).
Ability to mentor junior QSs and instil professional standards.
Confident and proactive with a “get-it-done” mindset.
Desirable:

Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification (RICS accredited).
Experience with Building Safety Fund or façade remediation schemes.
Familiarity with digital QA and cost-management tools (Fieldview, Fonn, or similar).
This is not a corporate role. This is a rare opportunity to help shape a growing contractor’s commercial department. You will have autonomy, real influence on systems and strategy, and the chance to grow into a Commercial Manager or Head of Commercial role as the company scales.
