About the Role
Our client, a leading specialist in façade systems and architectural cladding, is seeking a highly experienced Head of Design to lead and inspire their design team. This senior role is pivotal in shaping the design strategy, delivering technical excellence across high-profile projects, and ensuring the business maintains its reputation for innovation and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the design team, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and career development support.
Oversee the full design process from concept through to fabrication and installation across multiple projects.
Develop and implement design standards, processes, and best practices to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance.
Collaborate with senior management, project managers, and clients to align design vision with business strategy and client requirements.
Review, approve, and issue technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
Ensure multidisciplinary coordination with engineers, consultants, and external partners.
Drive innovation in design approaches, materials, and façade systems.
Monitor project delivery, manage design risks, and resolve complex technical issues proactively.
Experience & Skills Required
Proven senior leadership experience within the façade, cladding, or building envelope sector.
Strong technical knowledge of façade systems, including curtain walling, unitised systems, and rainscreen cladding.
Demonstrable experience managing design teams on high-profile and complex projects.
Excellent understanding of UK building regulations, CWCT standards, and performance requirements.
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar; experience with 3D modelling advantageous.
Strategic thinker with the ability to drive innovation and maintain technical excellence.
