About the Role
Our client, a well-established specialist in roofing, cladding, and building envelope solutions, is seeking a skilled Designer / Technical Designer to join their team in South Yorkshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate design and technical information to support the delivery of commercial and industrial roofing and cladding projects across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Produce detailed technical drawings, layouts, and construction details for roofing and cladding systems.
Interpret architectural and structural drawings to develop coordinated design solutions.
Prepare fabrication and installation drawings in line with project requirements and industry standards.
Work closely with Contracts Managers, Estimators, and Site Teams to ensure design intent is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
Assist in identifying buildability issues and propose practical, cost-effective solutions.
Attend internal design reviews and contribute to technical discussions.
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure all design information is issued in a timely manner.
Provide technical support throughout pre-construction and construction phases.
Experience & Skills Required
Experience working as a Designer, Technical Designer, or similar within the roofing, cladding, or building envelope sector.
Strong understanding of metal roofing systems, composite panels, built-up systems, profiled cladding, or related envelope solutions.
Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with 3D modelling software is advantageous.
Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings accurately.
Good knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices within the roofing and cladding industry.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Detail-oriented, organised, and able to manage multiple workloads simultaneously.
